The Gretchen Emery Band (GEB)
Infectious, Soul-Powered. Time-honored influences meet modern inspiration. Familiar. Fresh. Born out of years of partnership between singer Gretchen Emery & guitarist Kenny Windle, an unlikely pair from opposite sides of the tracks.
Gretchen's impassioned delivery cuts to the heart & soul of each song with sultry, gutsy, powerful, award-winning, world-class vocals. She's has had the honor of performing with Hubert Sumlin, Lowrider Band, Johnny Neel, Michael Hill's Blues Mob, Victor Wainwright, & Sam Cockrell. Gretchen was a featured performer at ARETHA! A Tribute to the Queen of Soul (Ardmore Music Hall, 2023).
Kenny's distinctive guitar style and sense of rhythm, space, & melody are driven by his exposure to the Latin and African music permeating his native N. Philly neighborhood, as well as influence from the Motown that saved his life as a kid. He spent years touring the east coast with Philly bands Yawa, Red House, Sixteen, Cherry, & The Rave, recorded at Sigma Sound, and gained label interest from Philly International with the funk/punk/soul-laced Spankeyalbo.
The Gretchen Emery Band's 2022 EP If Love Were Enough, rootsy, soul-fueled R&B, was recorded and produced by Derek Chafin at BarnSound Studios, and is streaming worldwide & receiving airplay on college and non-com stations in the US and Canada. A full-length album from BarnSound, and new music recorded at FAME Recording Studios (May 2024) are both are being produced by Chafin and set for release in early 2025.
